Navy - the most popular color
Polylon Robes, Inc. was founded in Dallas, Texas in 1973 by Earl and Carolyn Little. The name Polylon was selected because it represented the unique blend of material that is used to make the Polylon robe.
Before 1973, most baptismal services involved a heavy cloth robe that was cumbersome and could become quite embarrassing, so the Littles searched for a better approach. Their aim was to offer a new style that was modest, convenient, and durable. The concept was accepted immediately, and Polylon Robes became very popular. Over the past 33 years, more than 20,000 churches worldwide have been using the Polylon baptismal robe. The popularity of Polylon baptismal robes stems from superior quality, ready availability and affordability. Polylon’s unique features and design provide the modesty, convenience and durability the Littles were seeking.
Modest - The heavy, opaque nylon material, with its special backing, combined with the shorts-style design provides modesty. The Polylon Robe prevents see-through even when wet, will not float up due to its culotte style, and does not cling.
Durable - The original Polylon robes that were made in 1973 are still in use today. These robes will last for years and years!
Convenient - Polylon Robes are easy to use. The one-piece design allows converts to remove their clothing, step into the robe, zip it up and enter the baptistry quickly. Back in the dressing room, they can slip off the robe, hang it on a hanger, dry off and get back into their clothes in just minutes. Polylon baptismal robes actually shed water, so very little water comes out of the baptistry, assuring easy clean up. Just wash the robes in cool water with delicate agitation and drip dry. The most popular color is navy blue, which we offer here, but robes are also available in several other colors, including royal blue, forest green and burgundy. White is also available for an additional charge because more backing is required to prevent see-through.
